De Utrechtse Studenten Cantorij is op zoek naar componisten!
Ben jij een (beginnende) componist die klaar is voor de volgende stap? Wil jij dat jouw compositie wordt uitgevoerd door een écht koor met een professionele pianist? Lees dan snel verder!
Dit najaar voert de Utrechtse Studenten Cantorij circa drie opdrachtcomposities uit rondom het thema “natuur”. De Utrechtse Studenten Cantorij o.l.v. Fokko Oldenhuis is een studentenkamerkoor dat niet bang is om nieuwe verbindingen aan te gaan. Ons repertoire reikt van Monteverdi tot Manneke, van Andriessen tot Brahms. Vanaf september 2025 zal ons repertoire uitgebreid worden met circa drie wereldpremières van jonge componisten. Het project zal in samenwerking zijn met pianist Laurens de Man, winnaar van de Nederlandse Muziekprijs 2024.
Voor ieder zal het een leerzaam proces zijn, waarbij jij als componist de kans krijgt om jouw stuk uitgevoerd te zien worden door een echt koor en een professionele pianist en in het algemeen ervaring op te doen in het werkveld. Ook heb je de mogelijkheid om betrokken te zijn bij de uitvoering van jouw stuk. Er is verder geen vergoeding.
Je compositie moet voldoen aan de volgende eisen:
– de compositie is voor SATB + piano geschreven
– de compositie is geschreven in het thema “natuur”, uiteraard mag dit breed geïnterpreteerd worden
– de maximale duur is 6″ min
– de compositie mag eventueel ook alleen voor acapella koor geschreven zijn, dan is de maximale duur 4″ min
– je inzending bestaat uit de partituur, een audiofile, een korte biografie en achtergrondinformatie van je compositie

The Utrecht Student Cantorij is looking for composers!
Are you a (starting) composer who is ready for the next step? Would you like your composition to be performed by a real choir with a professional pianist? Then read on!
This autumn, the Utrecht Student Cantorij will perform about three commissioned compositions around the theme ‘nature’. The Utrecht Student Cantorij, conducted by Fokko Oldenhuis, is a student chamber choir that is not afraid to make new connections. Our repertoire ranges from Monteverdi to Manneke, from Andriessen to Brahms. From September 2025, our repertoire will be expanded to include about three world premieres by young composers. The project will be in collaboration with pianist Laurens de Man, winner of the Dutch Music Prize 2024.
It will be a learning process for everyone, where you as a composer will have the chance to see your piece performed by a real choir and a professional pianist and generally gain experience in the field. You will also have the opportunity to be involved in the performance of your piece. There is no further remuneration.
Your composition must meet the following requirements:
– the composition is written for SATB + piano
– the composition is written in the theme ‘nature’, of course this may be interpreted broadly
– the maximum duration is 6″ min
– the composition may also possibly be written for acapella choir only, in which case the maximum duration is 4″ min
– your entry consists of the partiture, an audio file, a short biography and background information of your composition
Submit your entry to secretaris@uscantorij.nl by 13 August 2025 at the latest.
